Hertz Promo: Double Bonus Points on Weekly Rentals This Summer
Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members generally earn one point for every qualifying dollar spent on Hertz rentals, but now through August 22, 2014, they can earn double Gold Plus Rewards bonus points on weekly rentals of a mid-size or larger vehicle, using promotional code (PC) 199172. Rental cars may be picked up at airport locations in the U.S., Canada or Australia. This promo is decent, but if you're renting for a week, check out Avis' 7,500 American Airlines mile promo, which might be more lucrative depending on where you're renting.
In order to take advantage of this promotion, Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members need to make sure to check the "Yes, I want to earn Hertz Gold Plus Rewards" box in their member profiles, beside the little Gold Plus Rewards mascot.
Reservations must be booked on Hertz.com with promotion code 199172. This code should be entered on the home page during the initial booking, as follows:
In addition to double Gold Rewards points, the promotional code will earn you a small dollar-savings amount on a weekly booking. For instance, when I booked a mid-sized (or as Hertz calls it, "intermediate") Toyota Corolla without the code for a weekly rental (July 25-August 1) with pickup/drop-off at Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS), the pre-taxes-and-fees price was $410.49.
With the code, that base price dropped to $394.07, for a savings of $16.42. Taxes and non-optional fees don't earn points, so via the promotion this booking would earn 788 Gold Rewards points. That's more than enough for a free rental day for a non-premium car.
Before members complete their reservations, they must select "Earn Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points" within the section titled "Arrival/Flight Information."
To take advantage of this promotion, advance reservations are required, and any changes made to a reservation (even a late return) might result in a rate change. Bonus points earned will be added to the member account up to 10 business days from the rental return, and can be redeemed immediately. Drive safely - and happy summer travels!
