Care Bear: “A caring airline? Wait, those exist?”
We're not sure if they picked, or "picked up" as they phrase it, the nickname "Alaska Carelines." Or if that's their official new slogan or motto. But the Seattle-based carrier that just unveiled a subscription flight pass for West Coast travel is having a lot of fun – maybe too much fun – with its new Care Coalition campaign.

Helping roll it out are some "icons of care" that may be familiar to you or whom you'll recognize from your everyday life, from TV, and from social media.
The team includes English fashion designer and TV personality Tan France and TikTok star Nick Cho, who is known to many as @YourKoreanDad. Also at the table, is a snuggly yellow Care Bear, one of the multi-colored characters that were turned into must-have teddy bears and a TV series as well as an animated blue-sleeved Snuggie blanket. The coalition also includes a grandma, a dog and Mother Nature.
Here they are in action. Taking nominations for a new member to invite to the table. No surprise, Alaska Airlines' name is put forth.
Snuggie nominates Alaska Airlines because the neck pillow he's dating says they're great. Care Bear's response is: "A caring airline? Wait, those exist?"
Mother Nature checks the internet and notes that Alaska Airlines has a lot of sustainable practices. Nick Cho adds that the airline hires a lot of people from the caring professions.
Cute, right? To help cement their Care Coalition membership, the airline is asking passengers to share their own caring Alaska Airlines stories on social media with the hashtag #AlaskaCarelines.
The campaign is charmingly underway. Earlier this month, Alaska Airlines sent out a social media alert to its passengers who were heading to Hawaii from San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
The important message: "Be prepared to be Care Bear'd."
Passengers on board this "Delight Flight" (another ongoing Alaska Airlines campaign) found a cabin with a plush yellow Care Bear at every seat and a giant yellow Care Bear in the cabin. Everyone on board received a "care-rific" swag bag and, even better, free tickets for a future Alaska Airlines flight.
To round out the festivities, Care Coalition team member Nick Cho was there too.
And evidently, Cho and the big Care Bear were treated to the full First Class experience.
We'll be on the lookout for more Care Coalition activations like the selfie-friendly signage that this traveler spotted in Alaska Airlines' SFO lounge. The one with a sourdough toast kiosk, a self-serve candy bar and an espresso bar with a barista,
