Breeze adds 2 new cities, 7 new routes; intro fares from $39 one-way
Welcome to the route map, Nebraska. You too, eastern Tennessee.
They're the latest additions for fast-growing startup carrier Breeze Airways, which announced its latest expansion Tuesday.
Breeze's Nebraska service takes off first, with flights from Lincoln Airport (LNK) to Orlando starting Dec. 10.
Bargain hunting: When is the best time to book flights for the cheapest airfare?
Two days later, Breeze will arrive in eastern Tennessee, where it will serve Tri-Cities Airport (TRI) near Kingsport. Flights to Orlando begin Dec. 12 while service to Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, D.C., begins Dec. 15.
TRI serves the Tennessee cities of Kingsport and Johnson City as well as the city of Bristol, whose main thoroughfare straddles the Tennessee-Virginia border. The airport will be Breeze's third destination in Tennessee — Memphis and Nashville are the others — but its first in the mountainous eastern portion of the state.
As for Lincoln, Breeze's entry brings a new budget airline to the city about two years after Lincoln-based startup Red Way abruptly went out of business after a short run.
Short-lived: Lasting barely a summer, Nebraska budget airline to cease operations
Breeze's two new cities announced Tuesday are part of a broader seven-route expansion that runs from New England to Florida.
Other cities getting new Breeze routes are Albany and Rochester, New York; Fort Myers, Florida; Manchester and Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Also joining Breeze's network are two previously announced routes as well as one returning one:
• Norfolk, Virginia, to Orlando
• Raleigh, North Carolina, to Ogdensburg, New York
• Charleston, West Virginia, to Tampa (returning)
Each of those routes begins Oct. 3.
