Amex adds Amsterdam to growing network of Centurion Lounges
American Express is once again flexing its muscle as the leader in credit card-branded airport lounges with yet another new location coming soon. This time, it's at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), which will soon be home to a Centurion Lounge.
Amex announced on Tuesday that it would open its 29th Centurion Lounge between Concourses E and F at AMS in 2026.

The issuer teased that the space will feature a Dutch-inspired design with art from local artists, along with floor-to-ceiling windows and locally inspired food and beverage options. In fact, Amex will offer a specially designed coffee bar that plays to the importance of coffee in Dutch culture and social gatherings.
The issuer shared just one rendering of the new space, and from the looks of it, the outpost should feel quite premium and airy.

Unfortunately, the lounge will only measure 6,000 square feet, making it not only one of the smallest in the network, but also likely one of the busiest. After all, AMS is the fourth-busiest airport in Europe. This represents Amex's third European location (after London and Stockholm), and it should be great news for travelers passing through AMS.
Amex started in the lounge game in 2013 with its first location in Las Vegas. Ever since, the issuer has been on an expansion spree, opening nearly 30 locations worldwide. While Capital One and Chase have since joined the party, neither issuer boasts as extensive a lounge network as Amex. In fact, neither issuer has a lounge in Europe (at least not yet).
Of course, Amex had a long head start — but it will take Capital One and Chase years to compete with Amex's scale. After all, finding space to lease in airports is perhaps the biggest obstacle to opening more lounges.
The good news is that Capital One and Chase are definitely raising the bar when it comes to lounge design, dining and amenities. Once inside these spaces, you can expect elevated offerings and bespoke experiences.
In addition to Amsterdam, Amex has upcoming lounge openings in Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and Tokyo's Haneda Airport (HND). Newark will open next year, while the other two lounges are expected to open their doors in 2025.
Furthermore, Amex was awarded a lease to open a new two-story lounge space at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), which is expected to start welcoming flyers at some point in 2027.
