You Can Now Get Two 4th Night Free Credits With Citi Prestige

While the unlimited 4th Night Free hotel discount program available through Citi Prestige took a bit of a hit last month, it's still a tremendously valuable perk. And, a bit to our surprise, Citi's recent changes even made the benefit more accessible: it can now be paired with a hotel's own fourth-night-free offer, too.
How did we come upon this nifty discovery? TPG reader Chris S. posed the question on our Facebook page — and I gave the Citi Concierge a quick call to confirm.
After a bit of digging, the agent came back to share the good news — while hotel fourth-night-free promos previously couldn't be combined with Citi's own benefit, since the 4th Night Free credit is now calculated as an average of the four nights (rather than the actual cost of night #4, which in the case of a promo would be $0), these particular hotel discounts are now eligible.
Unfortunately they're fairly rare — I haven't seen many hotels offer a fourth night free, specifically, though it's not uncommon for some properties to offer a free or discounted second or third night (which would have been eligible for Citi's 4th Night Free credit in the past).
One property that comes to mind is Rosewood Tucker's Point, my favorite hotel in Bermuda (until the St. Regis opens in 2020, perhaps). While it can be tremendously expensive (even by Bermuda standards), the Rosewood is a prime candidate for Citi 4th Night Free. And now, with two credits available, you can save even more.
Take, for example, a Villa Suite booking in September. The hotel already assigns a $0 value to the fourth night as part of its "More Rosewood" promotion. I called the Citi Concierge to confirm that they can book this rate, and how much the discount will be.
Since 4th Night Free credits no longer include taxes, it's easy to calculate the credit — simply take the room subtotal and divide by the four nights. So in this case, we'd be looking at $5,445 / 4 = $1,361. So after the credit, you'd pay $4,907 for four nights in a Villa Suite, including tax, the (relatively modest) resort fee and gratuity.
That's still an awful lot of money, but rates can be quite a bit lower with smaller rooms during off-peak periods, and I've seen much more affordable properties offer similar discounts, too. Definitely a nice score for Citi Prestige cardholders.
Have you managed to book a "double" 4th Night Free stay?
