Book an Orbitz Flight and Get a $100 Hotel Promo Code
From now through November 23, 2014, when you book a round-trip flight through Orbitz using Visa Checkout as your payment method, you'll receive a promo code for a $100 discount on an Orbitz hotel stay completed between now and June 30, 2015.
To participate in this promotion, you'll have to sign up through Orbitz for Visa Checkout, an encrypted digital wallet service that stores your credit card information in order to facilitate online payments. Signing up takes less than five minutes and requires your name, a password, billing and shipping addresses, and the payment information for one or more of your credit cards.
There are a few key things to be aware of before participating in this promotion. Purchases made with the Orbitz smartphone app are not eligible for the promo, and neither are flights and hotels booked as part of a package; you'll have to buy stand-alone flights and hotel rooms. If you're set on booking a travel package that combines a flight and hotel, note that Orbitz always has travel-package promo codes available, generally offering discounts of between $25-150 and excluding Las Vegas as a destination.
There are no restrictions on airlines or destinations for round-trip flights booked through the Visa Checkout promo, but most major hotel chains are excluded from the discount offer, so be sure to look for the "PROMO CODE ELIGIBLE" message on Orbitz.com hotel listings.
You can receive a maximum of one promo code (sent as a coupon to the email address you use for your flight booking), which will be redeemable for a $100 discount on a qualifying Orbitz prepaid hotel booking of one or more consecutive nights. Be careful when choosing a schedule for your discounted hotel stay, because if you have to cancel your booking, you'll be required to forfeit the full value of your promo code.
Since this offer requires you to book your discounted hotel stay through Orbitz, you won't earn any points, but since most major chains are excluded, that probably won't matter anyway. If you're a member of Orbitz Rewards, you'll earn Orbucks for both the flight and hotel booking, and elite status credit for the hotel booking.
Orbitz Rewards gives you a return on your Orbitz bookings (exclusive of taxes and fees): 1% for flights across the board, 3% for hotel bookings made online, and 5% for bookings made through the Orbitz app. Orbitz Rewards Visa cardholders get an additional 5% for all Orbitz bookings.
