At the beginning of every year, I take stock of the 30 credit cards in my wallet — I analyze perks and benefits to ensure I’m still getting the most value out of each card.
Take my American Express® Business Gold Card, for instance: It’s turning out to be the unsung hero of my points strategy. I ran the math and found that I’m getting a ton of value out of this card, and you can too — I’ll explain how.
I spend a lot on online advertising in the U.S., and the card earns 4 points per dollar spent in that category on up to $150,000 per calendar year (then 1 point per dollar), which equals 600,000 points per year (that’s $12,000 in value!). If you can max out some of the categories, the card is super lucrative.
I love using my Amex points for award flights because I can get even more value when I transfer my points to one of Amex’s 18 airline partners. For example, you could book a one-way business-class award ticket from the East Coast to Madrid through Iberia Plus for 34,000 Avios. Talk about value!
This card has earned a permanent spot in my wallet due to its high earning rates and versatile points.
