Ever since the Chase Sapphire Reserve® refreshed its benefits and annual fee (while also rolling out its eye-popping, best-ever welcome offer), devoted cardholders like me have been asking ourselves: Is it still worth keeping this card? And should I still recommend it to my friends?
For me this is actually a no-brainer because, despite the increased cost, the impressive lineup of benefits easily offsets that $795 fee — and by a long shot!
Think of it this way:
Up-front value: For a limited time, new cardholders can get this killer welcome offer of 100,000 bonus points plus a $500 Chase Travel℠ credit after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
TPG’s July 2025 valuations peg this welcome offer at $2,550 — more than three times the card’s annual fee.
Continuous value: This card also packs a ton of annual value in the form of statement credits and promotions. Even if you don’t end up maximizing the full $2,700 in value it offers, just a few of these can easily offset that fee.
I know I will always make full use of the $300 annual travel credit, $500 in credits annually for bookings of two nights or more in Chase’s The Edit collection of hotels, and up to $250 annually in complimentary Apple TV+ and Apple Music subscriptions (one-time activation required; subscriptions run through June 22, 2027). Those three benefits alone put me well ahead of that annual fee each year.
Lifestyle value: Beyond those easily calculable benefits, I can’t understate the value of knowing my travel experiences will be immensely smoother and more enjoyable thanks to benefits like airport lounge access (Chase Sapphire lounges and Priority Pass lounges) and hotel elite status (IHG Platinum Elite through Dec. 31, 2027). That peace of mind is truly priceless.
Even if you only take advantage of just some of these benefits, you’re getting a heck of a return on that $795 fee. And with the best-ever welcome offer of 100,000 bonus points plus a $500 Chase Travel credit still available for a limited time, the value here is easy math.
