We’re almost through the first five months of 2025. So, now is a good time to check in on your progress toward elite status goals, or — if you don’t currently have any such goals — consider whether you want to strive for status in a particular program this year.
Even if you don’t travel frequently, it may be possible to earn elite status this year (from traveling or from a credit card) and get significant benefits on the trips you do take.
I appreciate this AAdvantage elite status primarily for the Oneworld Emerald status it provides, which gives me benefits and first-class lounge access when I’m flying on Oneworld partner airlines. On American Airlines flights, I find it useful to select Main Cabin Extra seats at booking and appreciate occasional complimentary upgrades on North American routes.
Meanwhile, I love top-tier Hyatt Globalist elite status for the club lounge access, upgrades, guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout at most properties and waived resort fees. Plus, I think Hyatt is doing a lot of things right and believe its loyalty program provides a ton of value via its award chart, confirmable suite upgrades, Guest of Honor awards and the ability to gift almost any award to another member.
So, what status, if any, is appealing to you this year? If you need inspiration, here are my elite status goals for 2025.
