We often recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to beginners and pros alike — and for good reason. It offers bonus earnings on a wide range of travel and dining purchases, comes with fantastic travel protections, and has a reasonable $95 annual fee.
These factors led it to be named the best travel rewards card in the 2024 TPG Awards for the — wait for it — seventh year in a row.
Right now, new applicants can earn 60,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first three months from account opening. According to our valuations, this bonus is worth a fantastic $1,230.
But what can those 60,000 points get you, exactly? I’m so glad you asked.
If you use them to book travel through the Chase Travel portal, your 60,000 points will be worth $750. Even though this is below our valuation, you can use your points to cover purchases not available through Chase’s hotel and airline partners, like tickets to Universal Orlando Resort or a boutique hotel that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to book on points.
If you want a luxury hotel experience across the pond, you could transfer your points to World of Hyatt and use them to book two off-peak nights at the new Park Hyatt London River Thames for just 25,000 points per night.
You could also transfer your points to Southwest Rapid Rewards and use your points to cover three round-trip tickets between Los Angeles and Honolulu for you and two friends in March.
No matter what your travel goals are, adding the Chase Sapphire Preferred to your wallet is a smart move.
