Hotel elite status can provide valuable perks, especially at higher tiers. From breakfast and bonus points to upgrades (such as to an airport view at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel, pictured above), lounge access and late checkout, I find it worthwhile to pursue high tiers of hotel elite status with several loyalty programs.
The primary reason I use multiple hotel loyalty programs instead of sticking with just one is the value doing so can provide. Whether you’re redeeming points or booking a cash rate, some programs will provide better value than others for a given destination and dates.
Which program is best for you, though, will depend on your travel habits, likes and needs, as I discuss in this guide to the best hotel elite status tiers.
It usually takes many nights with a specific hotel loyalty program to earn elite status. However, there are some shortcuts you can use.
You can also secure automatic Hyatt Discoverist status as a credit card benefit. But, if you want to earn top-tier Hyatt Globalist status, you won’t find many shortcuts. That being said, you can earn elite night credits through spending on Hyatt credit cards, and some American Airlines elite members can register for a Hyatt status challenge through Oct. 31.
Choice elite status and even Wyndham Diamond status are also relatively easy to earn. For tips on deciding which elite status might be best for you and to learn more about earning hotel elite status, check out these stories:
