This summer has been flush with lucrative credit card welcome offers that we’ve been diligent in pointing out to our readers, including the best offers we’ve ever seen on some of our favorite cards.
But my favorite by far is the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card from Chase, which is currently offering a massive 120,000 Ultimate Rewards points when you spend $8,000 on the card within three months after account opening. Let’s talk about why this is a huge deal, and what you could do with all of those points.
According to TPG’s July 2024 valuations, this welcome bonus is worth $2,460 — already a huge return against the card’s modest $95 annual fee. But under the right circumstances you could eke even more value out of it through transfer partners.
If you’re a business owner who needs to travel for work, you could get a whopping 24 free nights at a Category 1 Hyatt property at 5,000 points per award night (even more if they’re off-peak at 3,500 points per night) like the Hyatt Regency Houston Intercontinental Airport. Want to take a leisure trip instead? You can get that same rate and score 24 nights at a place like the Alila Manggis in Bali, Indonesia!
Or maybe you’d like to treat yourself to a higher-end redemption? At 40,000 Hyatt points per night, you could stay three nights at the luxurious Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome, which otherwise would run about $1,500 per night for a standard room.
Of course, there are even more options (by far) with airlines. You could transfer these points at a 1:1 ratio to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and score award flights from the East Coast to Amsterdam for as low as 20,000 points each way for an economy seat (plus taxes and fees) — JetBlue TrueBlue and Air France-KLM Flying Blue are also great transfer partners to check out for a trip like this.
It’s easy to see why those of us who geek out over these things get so excited about an offer like this. If you’re looking to add a business card to your wallet, it is a great time to apply for this offer.
And here are some resources to help you daydream about how you’d burn through all those points:
