On top of choosing a great card, when shopping online, make sure you’re using a shopping portal. They’re a great way to double dip on your earnings since they allow you to earn cash back, points or miles on top of what you’re earning with your credit card.
For example, you can use the American Airlines AAdvantage eShopping portal like TPG Senior Newsletter Editor Becky Blaine does to earn AAdvantage Loyalty Points every time she orders groceries for pickup or delivery. Stores like Walmart and Safeway routinely offer 2 or 3 points per dollar spent through the portal, which helps boost her earnings toward American Airlines elite status.
Rakuten lets you earn cash back or Amex Membership Rewards points and is offering triple cash back during the holiday weekend at select merchants.
