Summer travel is almost upon us, and while you should already be booking those trips (here’s why), you should also be checking to see if your passport is valid for at least six months beyond any trips you are planning to take.
After last year’s delays messed up more than a few travel plans, we’re thrilled to see that the Department of State’s passport processing times are back to normal.
In addition to making sure your passport is up to date, now is a great time to add a membership to make your time in airport security less hectic, like TSA PreCheck, Clear or Global Entry. Breezing through security with one (or more) is even sweeter when your membership is covered as one of your credit card perks.
For instance, I just renewed my Global Entry membership (which includes TSA PreCheck) and paid the $100 fee with my Chase Sapphire Reserve® card. Within days, I had a statement credit show up for the full amount — money I would gladly have paid out of pocket for the luxury of leaving my shoes on and leaving my laptop in my bag every time I go through security.
A complimentary TSA PreCheck or Global Entry membership is even available on some cards with lower annual fees, like the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card.
And if you want a Clear Plus membership, you can get a credit for the full amount by paying with The Platinum Card® from American Express (enrollment is required for select benefits).
Regardless of which program you choose, you’ll be speeding through airport security and off to your fabulous destination in no time.
