Top stories of the week

by Sean Cudahy, Senior Aviation Reporter

Happy Sunday! It was a rather dreary Saturday here in the Southeast, so here’s hoping your weekend is warm, dry and without any flight disruptions.

Speaking of air travel, TPG’s aviation team had its hands full last week keeping track of some network shake-ups by airlines.

Most notably, JetBlue revealed plans to cut numerous routes as part of a larger push to return to profitability. Most affected: shorter-hop routes on the West Coast, though the airline is pulling out of a handful of domestic and international cities, too, focusing on its “bread and butter” routes.

We also saw Delta Air Lines cut (and add) some flights last week, and — in a somewhat surprising move — low-cost Frontier Airlines announced it will fly for the first time to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

By the way, frequent flyers, help us out: What is the proper etiquette for reclining your seat in coach? It’s still a contentious topic.

At sea, luxury cruise line Crystal is out with a new itinerary at an eye-popping cost: more than half a million dollars for a trip setting sail in January 2026. But looking at those impressive amenities, it might … just … be worth it.

If you’re starting to think about summer bookings this weekend, it’s a great time to check current transfer bonuses that could help you get the most out of your hard-earned points.

Or, if you’re looking to earn a boatload of points quickly, turn to TPG’s CardMatch tool, where you can see if you are targeted for an elevated offer of up to 150,000 Amex points by adding The Platinum Card® from American Express to your wallet.
