World of Hyatt announced its annual category adjustments on Tuesday, and 137 hotels will soon require more points per night, but a few properties did move down in category. While some of the most popular Hyatt hotels will now cost you more, I do have some ways to help save you money.
Google Flights has been my go-to travel “hack” for years — it helps me save time and money. The flight search service is where I almost always start my searches for trips I plan to take or just to explore what’s available.
It’s the travel tool I recommend to anyone looking for the best deals on flights (and even hotels). It’s easy to use and gives you a single source of truth when it comes to flight pricing.
Google Flights isn’t like Expedia, Tripadvisor or other online travel agencies where you can search for flights and book on that site. Google isn’t a booking service. It’s simply showing you the cheapest and most convenient flights available.
Google will also let you track prices, which is one of my favorite tools. I start searching for flights about eight months in advance, and Google will email me when prices drop significantly.
It also lets you see what the average ticket price is and when the best time might be for you to book.
Another great hack — that not many people know about — within Google Flights is Google Explore. If you don’t have a specific place in mind, it will fill your head with travel dreams.
You simply hit the “Explore” button on the toolbar, and when you put in your home airport, Google will show you cheap getaways to consider. I love it for when the travel bug strikes and I don’t have a specific destination in mind.
We are just scratching the surface of Google Flights, but it’s one of my favorite travel tools. If you get to know it, I’m sure it will soon be one of yours, too. Check out our complete guide to Google Flights to get started.
