Anyone who has stayed in a hotel over the last year and felt some sticker shock over the nightly rate won’t be surprised to hear it was a banner year for the hotel industry. Marriott reported an eye-popping $3 billion profit for the entire year. Hilton notched a little more than $1 billion. While we’re still waiting to hear the results for Hyatt, IHG and Accor, it’s likely to be a strong showing for those hotel giants, too.
Of course, don’t feel like your hotel stays are just a drop in the bucket of billions these companies each make. Marriott’s latest credit card offers include five free nights with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card (each night valued at up to 50,000 points) after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from your account opening.
