At first glance, the welcome bonus may seem like the biggest differentiator between the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One Venture X Business (other than one being a business card and one being a personal card, of course). Both cards offer valuable perks like a $300 annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Travel, airport lounge access and 10,000 bonus miles awarded each year you renew the card for the same $395 annual fee. But they have some other important differences that could sway you one way or the other.
But first, the bonus miles. The Venture X Business currently has a massive welcome offer of up to 300,000 bonus miles: 150,000 miles when you spend $20,000 in the first three months and another 150,000 miles when you spend $100,000 in the first six months. That welcome offer is valued at over $5,500 according to TPG’s valuations. The card’s airport lounge access includes access to Capital One Lounges, Priority Pass lounges (including restaurants, which is rare these days) and Plaza Premium lounges for the primary cardholder and up to two guests, but not for authorized users.
The Venture X, on the other hand, currently has a welcome offer of 75,000 bonus miles but with a much lower spending requirement of $4,000 in the first three months from account opening. It provides complimentary lounge access for the primary cardholder and up to four authorized users, which you can add for no additional fee. This access includes Capital One, Priority Pass and Plaza Premium lounges but excludes Priority Pass restaurant access.
The card that’s better for you may simply come down to whether you have a business that may qualify and can meet the spending requirement to earn the Venture X Business’ ultra-valuable bonus, but some of the other differences between the cards may matter equally to you.
Good news: You can’t go wrong either way because you’ll get premium perks and a solid earning rate on both cards of 2 miles per dollar on everyday purchases, plus 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and 5 miles per dollar on flights booked through Capital One Travel.
