If you want to book some of the most aspirational flights with points and miles, today’s newsletter is perfect for you.
Virgin Atlantic’s award chart for partner All Nippon Airways offers fantastic value with its sweet spots. Despite limited availability and recent increases in first-class rates, these remain an incredible use of Virgin points. One-way flights from the East Coast to Japan cost 47,500 points in business class and 85,000 points in first class. ANA’s new business class, “The Room,” and first class, “The Suite,” are excellent products that we highly recommend.
There are two great card bonuses to help you earn the points needed. The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card offers 60,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months, while the Ink Business Preferred Credit Card offers 100,000 points after you spend $8,000 in the first three months. You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club at a 1:1 ratio, and these transfers generally process instantly.
You can also transfer Chase points to Air France-KLM Flying Blue, which routinely runs business-class deals — like a flight from San Francisco to Paris for 50,000 miles, which I booked two weeks ago.
Qatar Airways is renowned for its award-winning Qsuite business-class product. If you don’t reside near a Qatar Airways hub, you might find a connecting domestic itinerary within the U.S. for the same price. You can search for award availability online. However, be aware that award space can be limited, so check frequently if your preferred route is unavailable.
Award flights from North America to the Middle East typically require 70,000 AAdvantage miles. The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® offers 70,000 miles after you spend $7,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening, giving you exactly the number of miles you’d need with one welcome bonus.
