Good morning, TPG readers!
One of my favorite pastimes around the holidays is to start thinking about where I’m going to go on that next vacation and looking for deals — like this amazing award space that just opened up to New Zealand and Australia yesterday (act fast — deals like this usually don’t last long).
After all, if you’re on Santa’s nice list, you could be getting a few holiday cards with money from relatives near and far. But if you’ve utilized your credit card all year, you’ll have some award points or miles to burn through as well.
We all have our favorite sweet spots here at TPG — for example, utilizing Chase Ultimate Rewards points on 1:1 transfer partners like Hyatt to stay at hotels starting at 3,500 points per night. Ultimate Rewards points also transfer to JetBlue and Emirates, among others.
American Express cardholders also have plenty of ways to redeem American Express Membership Rewards points. This is how my husband and I paid for most of our honeymoon to Vietnam last year! We transferred 190,000 Amex points to Delta Air Lines to book round-trip business-class flights to Ho Chi Minh City. There wasn’t a transfer bonus at the time, but when there is, you can sometimes get a 20%-30% boost, depending on the offer.
Don’t just use the holidays for catching up with family members — use those points to take them somewhere fabulous next year!
Here’s some other useful information for planning your next award trip:
That’s all from me for today. I’ll catch y’all tomorrow!
