If you’re taking to the sky with your family and want to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the terminal to an airport lounge, you may find your options more limited than in the past. Lounges such as the American Express Centurion lounges and Delta Sky Clubs have really cut back when it comes to welcoming complimentary guests.
However, there are still some great options if you want to visit an airport lounge with your partner and kids, as long as you have the right cards in your wallet.
Here are four of the best cards for accessing airport lounges with a family to have ready for travel this week or to add to your wallet before a future trip:
Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card: This is the best credit card right now for lounge access for families as it conveys a Priority Pass membership that works for unlimited guests who are traveling with the member. Additionally, you can get two guests into the growing network of Capital One lounges, as can your authorized users — and authorized user cards are free.
Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®: Access to American Airlines Admirals Clubs for immediate family (spouse, domestic partner and children under 18) or up to two guests when flying American or its partners.
United Club Infinite Card: Access to the United Club for one adult and dependent children under 21 when flying on United Airlines or a partner.
Chase Sapphire Reserve: What I love about this card for families is it still has the Priority Pass restaurant benefit that has been removed from most other cards, so you have credit (often $56 with a guest) to use at 31 airport restaurants across the country that if you use strategically can feed the whole family for a lot less.
Safe travels, and remember to check airport parking capacity. Make that parking reservation for the airport before you head out the door!
