Is anyone else out there spending an exorbitant amount of money on groceries these days? As prices have crept higher at the grocery store, there’s one thing that hasn’t changed for me — earning 4 points per dollar on every grocery run. (I also order my groceries online and earn even more points using a shopping portal, but that’s a topic for another day.)
The American Express® Gold Card is my go-to card for all grocery shopping since it earns a basically unmatched 4 points per dollar at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $25,000 per calendar year in purchases, then 1 point per dollar) and on dining out. I love the benefits I get from this card, and I love earning transferable Membership Rewards points.
But it has some fun perks, too, in the form of annual statement credits (which almost completely offset the card’s annual fee) — including up to $120 in Uber Cash and up to $120 in dining statement credits with eligible dining partners. These work out to $10 per month each (enrollment is required).
My favorite dining partner that offers this perk is Shake Shack. Yes, it’s an excuse to use $10 a month toward a burger and fries, extra Shack sauce please! Or heck, just get shakes and thrill the kids.
The Amex Gold is currently offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases with your new card within the first six months of card membership. But, you could be targeted for an even higher offer of 90,000 points on this card through CardMatch (offer subject to change at any time), so check there first.
