New routes. New fares. And new features coming to security checkpoints.
There’s a lot to talk about since our last newsletter, so let’s get to it.
It may be time to update your favorite airline’s route map. A slew of new routes have been announced in the past two weeks, everything from a blockbuster expansion at Southwest to Delta’s big move to grow in Asia with a high-profile new route across the Pacific.
There was also news on the airfare front. JetBlue led the way, revealing how it will brand the fares for its first-class cabin that’s expected to debut by the end of the year. On the flip side, JetBlue said in the same announcement that it would expand the use of its basic, no-frills fare type. That mirrors moves made recently by other carriers, including this update yesterday from Air Canada.
