Today begins the fifth — and final — week of Daily Getaways, an assortment of daily discounts and deals with various travel brands and loyalty programs, sponsored by the US Travel Association.

Each Monday, we dive into the details of the week's deals to help you figure out which ones are worth pursuing. Note that each deal goes live at 1:00pm Eastern Time on the date listed below. If you're interested in a deal, chances are others will be too. Make sure you're ready to purchase exactly at 1:00pm!

Missed our previous posts? There are still some offers available from previous weeks. Check out the Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4 posts to see our take on these remaining offers.

Let's take a look at the deals for this week:

Daily Getaways Week 5 offers — just Monday through Wednesday this week.

Monday, May 2 — Avis

Gain access to the exclusive Avis Chairman's Club... but is it worth it?

(1) Avis Chairman's Club Membership for $1,115 (15 available)

  • Buy access to this invitation-only Avis elite membership
  • Not at an airport? Avis will deliver a rental car to you anywhere within 25 miles of an Avis location.
  • Automatic upgrade to the best available car when you rent an intermediate or higher-level car.
  • "Membership benefits available at participating locations in the US and Canada."
  • Membership expires one year from activation date, or by May 31, 2017

It's hard to imagine many scenarios where buying this membership for this much makes sense. One could be if you're a frequent business traveler who drives clients in your rental car and you pay for your own travel costs. The ability to book a much cheaper intermediate car but get an upgrade to a much better vehicle could justify the price of this membership. However, note that you only get the "best available car" and a Premium or Luxury car might not always be available.

Verdict: Pass, except for narrow circumstances.

Here are the car classes available for just $30/day with this voucher. Image courtesy of Avis.

(2) One-day car rental for $30 (700 available)

Available for any car class up to G (Premium). Not available for Specialty or higher classes of vehicles. Plus, there's a ton of other restrictions:

  • Valid only at any participating Avis location in the US (excluding the New York Metro area), Canada, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands
  • Taxes, concession recovery fees, vehicle license recovery fee, customer facility charges aren't covered by the voucher.
  • Not available for one-way rentals.
  • Your voucher(s) will be mailed to you "within 10 business days," so don't plan on using it within the next few weeks.
  • "A limited number of cars are made available for use in conjunction with this offer and the number varies depending on season and location."
  • Undefined "holiday and other blackout periods may apply" and "additional restrictions may apply." For example, a past purchaser has noted that you can't redeem these vouchers in Alaska.
  • 24-hour advance reservation is required.
  • Expiration date: May 31, 2017

Max quantity per purchase: 7

While a $30 per day rental voucher sounds very appealing, make sure to factor in all restrictions and additional costs before buying. Remember that taxes and fees can constitute a significant portion of a car rental — especially one from an airport — and these taxes and fees aren't covered by the voucher.

Also, don't purchase these vouchers with only one possible redemption in mind, as there might be a blackout period or an additional restriction.

Verdict: Proceed with caution. If you're looking to book multiple Full Size or Premium cars over the next year, you might be able to get solid value out of these vouchers — assuming you can find dates and locations to use them.

Tuesday, May 3 — Marriott Gift Cards at 20% Off

Save 20% off all purchases at any of the 4,000+ Marriott properties — such as the Brisbane Marriott Hotel. Image courtesy of Marriott.

(1) $100 Marriott eGiftCard for $80 (1,070 available)

(2) $250 Marriott eGiftCard for $200 (252 available)

(3) $500 Marriott eGiftCard for $400 (200 available)

While we're used to restrictive terms on most Daily Getaways, you don't have to worry about them with this deal:

  • Valid at any of the over 4,000 Marriott properties and at Ritz-Carlton Hotels.
  • Value can be applied to "stays, dining, spa treatments, golf and more."
  • eGiftCards don't expire.
  • "eGiftCards are transferable" but "cannot be brokered, bartered, sold or altered in any way."

Even if you're planing redeeming points for a Marriott stay, you can utilize these gift cards for food, spa visits and other expenses tangential to your stay.

Short on points? The Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card is still offering a 80,000-point sign up bonus after you spend $3,000 in the first three months. While this card offers 5x points on Marriott purchases, don't worry about missing out on this spending bonus for the sake of this Daily Getaway. The 20% savings on these gift cards far outweighs the 3.5% effective return (5 points per dollar at 0.7 cents per point) you'd earn from the spending bonus.

Max quantity per purchase: 2

Verdict: Great deal. If a stay at a Marriott hotel is in your future, saving 20% on the stay — or related expenses — is a no-brainer.

(5) Stay and Play at Circus Circus for $150 (8 available)

  • Three consecutive nights in a standard West Tower room at Circus Circus
  • Breakfast Buffet for two people (excluding gratuity)
  • $75 voucher for one visit to The Steak House restaurant
  • One-day passes for two to the "Adventuredome Theme Park"
  • Good for travel through December 30, 2016. No blackout dates mentioned, but "subject to availability."
  • 7-day advanced booking required

Verdict: Everyone is going to value these packages differently. If you're looking for a luxurious, easily planned Vegas getaway, take a closer look at the first three deals. Meanwhile, the last two deals are much better for budget travelers — as you can get enough value through the food and entertainment to make the room practically free.

That's All For 2016

This is the last week of Daily Getaways for 2016. Considering how popular many Daily Getaways offers have been this year — and how more travel partners seem to be added each year — we can likely see the return of Daily Getaways in spring 2017. If so, you can count on us to help you wade through all of the offerings for the best deals.
