There’s a reason TPG awarded Marriott Bonvoy with Best Hotel Loyalty Program for two years and counting. Actually, there are several.
With more than 30 brands and over 9,000 properties across the globe, you’ll find exactly what you are looking for when you stay with Marriott, whether it’s a luxury stay, a budget-friendly getaway or anything in between.
When it comes to earning and redeeming points, Marriott Bonvoy’s structure is surprisingly simple and lucrative. Marriott Bonvoy members earn up to 10 points per dollar spent on qualifying charges at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy, which can be redeemed for hotel stays and room upgrades, or transferred to more than 38 airline programs.
And the perks you can get at Marriott Bonvoy’s elite status tiers — like bonus points, space-available room upgrades, early check-in and late checkout (subject to availability) — add comfort and value to your stays when booked with a qualifying rate at hotels that participate in Marriott Bonvoy. Room upgrades are subject to availability upon check-in and only available to Gold and Platinum Elite members.
Right now, you can earn even more points and get on the fast track to elite status with elevated welcome offers on two Marriott Bonvoy® American Express® Cards. These offers end Sept. 30, 2026, so let’s take a look at how to choose the right card for your travel style.
A top-tier card with premium benefits
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card is the most premium card in the lineup, offering benefits that enhance not only your Marriott stays but also your everyday life.
New Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant cardholders can earn 150,000 bonus points and a $250 statement credit after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership. Offer ends Sept. 30.
The Bonvoy Brilliant card has a $650 annual fee (see rates and fees), but when you combine the Bonvoy Brilliant’s annual free night award (available upon annual card renewal, certain hotels have resort fees), which can be redeemed for up to 85,000 points per night at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels, and the annual $300 Brilliant Dining Credit (up to $25 in monthly statement credits for eligible dining purchases worldwide each calendar year), it’s easy to get outsize value from the card before you even dip into the other benefits.
Cardholders also get complimentary Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum Elite status, which includes benefits such as 50% bonus points on stays at participating brands, lounge access, room upgrades and late checkout. These benefits are subject to availability and apply only when a stay is booked at a qualifying rate at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels.
You can earn up to a staggering 21 points per dollar spent on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels on the card: 6 points for paying with the Bonvoy Brilliant card, up to 10 points for being a Marriott Bonvoy member and up to 5x points from Marriott Bonvoy on eligible hotel purchases with the 50% bonus points on stays benefit for Platinum Elite members.
And with no foreign transaction fees (see rates and fees) and either a $120 statement credit for Global Entry or up to $85 for TSA PreCheck every four years, frequent travelers will reach for this card again and again.
Whether you are a Marriott loyalist or only stay a few times each year, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card’s complimentary Platinum Elite status, annual free night award (certain hotels have resort fees) and bonus points earning potential make it easy to take full advantage of its suite of benefits.
And, if you apply by Sept. 30, you can earn 150,000 bonus points to use toward your next dream vacation.
High earning potential for Marriott loyalists
If you are looking for a lower annual fee or don’t fancy yourself a frequent traveler, but still want to enjoy the benefits of elite status, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy® American Express® Card is a solid mid-tier option.
The Bonvoy Bevy card has a $250 annual fee (see rates and fees), and new cardholders can earn 125,000 bonus points and a $150 statement credit after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership. Offer ends Sept. 30.
Bonvoy Bevy cardholders get perks like a welcome gift of points when you stay at participating Marriott brands, automatic complimentary Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite status, complimentary room upgrades (subject to availability upon check-in) and a 2 p.m. late checkout (based on availability, when the stay is booked with a qualifying rate at hotels that participate in Marriott Bonvoy).
You can also earn up to 18.5 Marriott Bonvoy points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels: 6 points for paying with the Bonvoy Bevy card, up to 10 points for being a Marriott Bonvoy member and up to 2.5 points with the 25% Bonus Points on Stays benefit for Gold Elite members.
When you combine the bonus points you can earn on stays, plus the Bonvoy Bevy’s 125,000-point welcome offer, you’ll be on your way to points-fueled vacations in no time.
