Update 3: Today, August 31, 2016, the DOT finalized the below list of nonstop flights to Cuba.

Update 2: Alaska's Havana flight will actually originate in Seattle, making a stop in Los Angeles in each direction.

Update: The DOT has published a Q&A (PDF) addressing any potential questions about today's routes announcement.

Last month, the Department of Transportation announced approved nonstop flights to a handful of destinations in Cuba, but Havana was notably absent from that list — as were major US carriers, including Delta and United. Well, now we know which routes to expect — you can see them outlined below:

While most of the initial routes originated in Florida, this latest batch includes nonstops from Los Angeles (Alaska Airlines), Charlotte (American), New York-JFK (Delta and JetBlue), Newark (United), Houston (United) and Atlanta (Delta), in addition to Miami (AA, Delta, Frontier), Orlando (JetBlue), Fort Lauderdale (JetBlue, Southwest and Spirit) and Tampa (Southwest).

All the nonstop flights you'll be able to book to Havana.

Technically, this is not a final list — airlines will be able to object to the DOT's decision by July 22. The Department of Transportation expects to finalize the new routes later this summer — however, as airlines were assigned many of their requested routes, and US carriers may only operate a total of 20 daily round-trips to Havana, it seems likely that this list should be approved.
