Starwood Announces Fall Triple Points Promotion
Starwood announced today that they will be offering triple points on every stay from September 6 through December 18, 2011 as long as your stay encompasses a Sunday or Thursday night. I would have liked this promo if it didn't have the silly Sunday/Thursday requirement, because as a business and leisure traveler, sometimes I have short mid-week stays or simple weekend stays. I guess they want to add incentive to stay earlier or later for weekend stays, but that's just not feasible for me most of the time or many consultants who travel Monday-Thursday and spending an extra night on the road is not worth missing a night with family or friends.
However, you do earn double Starpoints on all other stays

Overall, this is a decent promo which should work well for some, but terribly for others. It won't make me go out of my way to stay at Starwood properties, but it's better than nothing.
I personally like Hyatt's new 5,000 point promotion better because it doesn't discriminate against what night of the week you stay and I like flexible promotions.
