You can now transfer 10 MGM Rewards points for 8 Marriott Bonvoy points
Marriott announced in a press release Monday it is expanding its partnership and allowing Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards members to transfer points between the two programs. Members who have linked both their loyalty program accounts can transfer points at a rate of 10 MGM Rewards points for 8 Marriott Bonvoy points.
Note that members must convert at least 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points or MGM Rewards points per transaction, and you can only transfer up to 30,000 points in a calendar year.
Members should link their MGM Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy accounts to transfer points via MGM or Marriott.

Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points for stays at MGM Resorts properties, including those in the MGM Collection, such as the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan and Aria in Las Vegas.
Marriott Bonvoy members also receive unique benefits based on their status level on qualifying stays at MGM properties, including bonus points-earning opportunities, starting at 10% for Silver Elite members and up to 75% for Titatinum and Ambassador Elite members. Additional perks include complimentary late checkout and suite upgrades.
Through 2024, eligible MGM Rewards Gold, Platinum and Noir members who have linked their accounts can match their status in Marriott Bonvoy as follows:
- MGM Rewards Gold grants Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite
- MGM Rewards Platinum grants Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite
- MGM Rewards Noir grants Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite
The initial status match and benefits are valid through Dec. 31, and are only applicable for existing MGM status holders who are also Marriott Bonvoy members. Marriott Bonvoy members can not match their status to the MGM Rewards program.
Is it worth transferring Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards points?
You can redeem MGM Rewards points for hotel stays, shows, dining and more at a fixed value of 1 cent per point.
Marriott Bonvoy points can be redeemed for award stays, Marriott Bonvoy Moments, merchandise and gift cards, or be transferred to airlines and other travel partners. TPG currently values Marriott points at 0.85 cents per point, per our September 2024 valuations.
TPG typically does not recommend redeeming Marriott points on nonaward stays, as you will usually get less value than our current valuation. So, should you still transfer your Marriott points to MGM Rewards?
Since Marriott points can be converted to MGM Rewards points at a 10:8 ratio, that means you'll be getting 0.8 cents of value per point. While this is slightly less than our valuation of 0.85 cents per Marriott point, it could be worth it to those who want to save some money on a hotel stay, a dining bill or even a show.
Transferring your MGM Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy will most likely not be the best way to maximize your rewards unless you find a hotel award deal that gives you well over 1 cent per point as a redemption value. However, if you need to top off your Marriott account to book your next award stay, it may be worthwhile if you have a ton of MGM Rewards points at your disposal.
Unfortunately, keep in mind that both programs only allow up to 30,000 transferred points per calendar year.
