With 5 million weddings under its belt, Las Vegas has earned its reputation as the Wedding Capital of the World.

Couples can get married in a drive-thru, at the Mob Museum, at Denny's, or with "Elvis" or a variety of other celebrities as the officiants.

But before they can get hitched, every couple needs a marriage license. And that usually means a trip to the Clark County Clerk's Office in downtown Las Vegas.

The downtown office is conveniently open from 8 a.m. to midnight 365 days a year. But during February — also known as Wedding Month — lovebirds flying into Las Vegas to get married can skip the trip downtown and get to their ceremony faster by picking up their marriage license or vow renewal certificate at the pop-up Marriage License Bureau in the Terminal 1 baggage claim at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).

The Clark County Clerk first set up its pop-up Marriage License Bureau at LAS for the Valentine's Day season in 2018; that year, it issued 180 marriage licenses in nine days. The popular pop-up airport amenity has returned each February since then — except in 2021, due to COVID-19.

"Customers that are flying in love this," Marriage Bureau Manager Paula Cook told TPG. "Every year we have customers calling at the beginning of the year saying they are getting married in February and they're wondering if we're going to do the pop-up location at the airport."

This year the Marriage License Bureau pop-up will be open in the Terminal 1 bag claim from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day from Feb. 11 through Feb. 25, with credit cards or debit cards, but not cash, accepted for payments. Marriage licenses cost $102, vow renewal certificates are $21, and there is a small processing fee.

Giant digital signs in all the LAS terminals inform travelers that the Marriage License Bureau pop-up is open for business, and couples can easily shuttle between terminals to pick up their marriage license or vow renewal certificate. This year, because Valentine's Day falls on a Friday, the Clerk's Office expects to eclipse its 2023 record, when the airport pop-up issued 564 marriage licenses in 13 days. So if you're headed that way, you can save some time by filling out your paperwork online ahead of time.

On arrival, couples can elect a special, limited-edition themed certificate featuring the Las Vegas skyline and classic Valentine conversation hearts. And as a bonus, starting Feb. 10, all airport visitors who stop by the airport's Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum on the second floor of Terminal 1 above baggage claim will be able to view the winning dress from the inaugural Wedding Dress Design of the Year contest. The museum's exhibits document the history of commercial and general aviation in southern Nevada, from the first flight in 1920 through the introduction of jets.
