Yesterday, ridesharing serving Lyft and New York-based airline JetBlue announced a partnership that will reward customers of both companies with unique discounts, travel perks and additional points. By linking your JetBlue and Lyft accounts, you can earn up to 1,200 TrueBlue points per year.

The TrueBlue point-earning structure is fairly simple. For every ride you take to and from the airport, you'll earn a flat 30 TrueBlue points, and there is a cap of 1,200 points a year. If you don't yet have a Lyft account, you can sign up through JetBlue and automatically receive a $15 ride credit or 750 TrueBlue points. If you choose the 750 points, they will not count toward the cap — so if you're new to Lyft, you could earn a maximum of 1,950 TrueBlue points for the first year.

Based on TPG's most recent valuations, the bonus 1,950 TrueBlue points are worth about $20-$27, depending on your redemption. With the new partnership, Lyft will be integrated into the JetBlue app so you'll be able to request and track your ride via one app instead of switching between the two. You can link your accounts by visiting Lyft's Connected Services page if you already have a Lyft account, or by visiting the Lyft + TrueBlue page to get set up with an account and to get your bonus points or free ride. In addition, because JetBlue is based in Terminal 5 at JFK, Lyft will get a new designated pickup and drop-off area so fetching your ride will be more convenient.

Overall, this is a neat partnership, allowing you to earn bonus TrueBlue points on rides that you'd already be taking to and from the airport. Note that as of now, you can only earn the TrueBlue points on trips to and from the airport, not every ride you take with Lyft through the JetBlue app. If you're new to the ridesharing service, you can also get up to $50 in Lyft credit when you sign up here — a better offer then what you'd get with either of the JetBlue offers. As always, you'll earn the most in return by syncing a credit card with your Lyft account that earns you the most in return, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve to earn 3x points on travel purchases.
