Hyatt Adds Residence Club Properties to Its Standard Award Chart
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.
Hyatt Residence Clubs are timeshare-style properties in locations across the US such as Aspen, Carmel and Sedona. While you can redeem Gold Passport points for free nights at these hotels, previously Hyatt grouped them under a separate award chart — one that apparently hadn't been updated for more than 10 years. Now, however, the hotel chain's eliminated that separate chart and added its Residence Clubs to the standard free night award chart, which you use to find the nightly award rate for all properties in the Hyatt portfolio.
Here's a look at the new category assignment for each Residence Club property:
| Residence Club | Award Category | Standard Point Requirement | Suite Point Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Pinion Point, a Hyatt Residence Club (Sedona, AZ) | 4 | 15,000 | 24,000 |
| Hyatt Hacienda del Mar, a Hyatt Residence Club (Dorada, Puerto Rico) | 4 | 15,000 | 24,00 |
| Hyatt Sunset Harbor, a Hyatt Residence Club (Key West, FL) | 5 | 20,000 | 32,000 |
| Hyatt Coconut Plantation, a Hyatt Residence Club (Bonita Springs, FL) | 5 | 20,000 | 32,000 |
| Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch, a Hyatt Residence Club (San Antonio, TX) | 5 | 20,000 | 32,000 |
| Hyatt Mountain Lodge, a Hyatt Residence Club (Avon, CO) | 6 | 25,000 | 40,000 |
| Hyatt Main Street Station, a Hyatt Residence Club (Breckenridge, CO) | 6 | 25,000 | 40,000 |
| Hyatt Beach House, a Hyatt Residence Club (Key West, FL) | 6 | 25,000 | 40,000 |
| Northstar Lodge, a Hyatt Residence Club (Truckee, CA) | 6 | 25,000 | 40,000 |
| Hyatt Windward Pointe, a Hyatt Residence Club (Key West, FL) | 6 | 25,000 | 40,000 |
| Grand Hyatt Aspen, a Hyatt Residence Club (Aspen, CO) | 7 | 30,000 | 48,000 |
| The Residences at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, a Hyatt Residence Club (Avon, CO) | 7 | 30,000 | 48,000 |
| Hyatt Siesta Key Beach, a Hyatt Residence Club (Sarasota, FL) | 7 | 30,000 | 48,000 |
| Hyatt Carmel Highlands, a Hyatt Residence Club (Carmel, CA) | 7 | 30,000 | 48,000 |
| Maui Ka'anapali Beach (Lahaina, HI) | 7 | 30,000 | 48,000 |
| Hyatt High Sierra Lodge, a Hyatt Residence Club (Incline Village, NV) | 7 | 30,000 | 48,000 |
This is more straightforward than the previous award chart, though you'll end up paying more points per night under the new classification, since previously you'd pay based on the size of the room starting at 12,000 points per night for a studio, with no premium for more in-demand locations (though finding availability has always been a challenge since these properties are capacity-controlled). Note that you can use free nights from the Hyatt Visa Card at these properties, however Diamond Suite Upgrades are not available.
If you're looking to earn some extra Gold Passport points, you have a few options. You could go with an Ultimate Rewards-earning card like the recently launched Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, which is currently offering a sign-up bonus of 100,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months. This card has a $450 annual fee, but it could be worth it if you can maximize its perks like a $300 annual travel credit. There's also the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (with a $95 annual fee that's waived the first year), which is currently offering 50,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months. You can transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt instantly, which is helpful since Hyatt Residence Club properties usually offer the best availability when you book close to your check-in date.
