2 buzzworthy hotels in New Orleans are now part of World of Hyatt
Two of the trendiest hotels in New Orleans are now officially part of World of Hyatt.
Maison Metier (formerly Maison de la Luz) and The Barnett (formerly Ace Hotel New Orleans) became Hyatt-affiliated hotels earlier this year, but World of Hyatt members weren't able to enjoy the perks and loyalty credits associated with the program until this week. Now, Maison Metier and The Barnett are part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt and JdV by Hyatt, respectively.
Maison Metier is a Category 6 property on the World of Hyatt award chart, meaning award redemption nights cost as little as 21,000 points and go as high as 29,000 points during peak travel periods. The Barnett is a Category 5 property, meaning award redemption nights cost as little as 17,000 points and go as high as 23,000 points. As for cash rates, TPG found nightly rates at Maison Metier starting at $360 this fall, while rates at The Barnett begin at $160.
It's a big win for Hyatt, as the two downtown hotels are popular lifestyle properties with convenient access to both the French Quarter and the Caesars Superdome.
"Hyatt's growth continues to be fueled by the leisure and lifestyle segment, and this brand expansion in the New Orleans market underscores Hyatt's commitment to growing with intent in destinations that matter most to Hyatt guests and World of Hyatt members," Mike Waddell, senior vice president of global franchise operations at Hyatt, said in a June statement. "Maison Metier and The Barnett highlight New Orleans' vibrant culture, and we're excited to expand our brand presence in this world-renowned city with these two remarkable hotels that are purposefully crafted to be a place of discovery and joy through food and beverage, art, music and beyond."
Maison Metier opened under its former moniker in 2019 and quickly won acclaim for its luxurious Parisian design across 67 guest rooms and suites; it became a Hyatt-affiliated hotel in June 2024. The property's salon bar is a mainstay for travelers and locals alike, and it will continue its partnership with Paris-based Quixotic Projects, but going forward, it will be known as Bar Metier (it was previously called Bar Marilou).
The Barnett maintains the former Ace Hotel's mix of art deco and French modernism design influences in what was originally a Barnett's Furniture Store. Live music will play an important role in the hotel, as will updates to the property's Italian restaurant, rooftop pool bar and music venue. The hotel's Seaworthy restaurant will remain as-is throughout the Hyatt integration.
Once the hotels are fully integrated into World of Hyatt later this year, guests will be able to earn and redeem points at both hotels. In the meantime, you can still book directly via the Hyatt website while the hotels move toward their respective places within Hyatt's Independent Collection brands.
