There is a fun new addition to the New York City hotel scene.

Hilton has opened a Motto hotel in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. This is only the third property Hilton has opened under this brand, which was introduced in 2018.

These micro hotels in urban destinations were designed to compete with hostels by offering small, affordably priced rooms.

There are two other Motto hotels currently open in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, and there are about a dozen others in development, including one in New York's Times Square and cities including Boston; Dublin; Lima, Peru; Rotterdam, Netherlands; San Diego; Savannah, Georgia; and Tulum, Mexico.

How to book

The 374-room Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea, which is located on 24th Street near Madison Square Park, will cost about $150 a night on average. A room on Jan. 23 is priced on the lower end at $125, and on the higher side on Feb. 26 it costs $229. You can also book it for 44,000 Hilton Honors points.
