Hilton HHonors Cancels Delta 2,012 SkyMiles Bonus
The cards we feature here are from partners who compensate us when you are approved through our site, and this may impact how or where these products appear. We don’t cover all available credit cards, but our analysis, reviews, and opinions are entirely from our editorial team. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information.

Right after the new year, Hilton HHonors announced a promotion in partnership with Delta that would earn Hilton HHonors members 2,012 bonus SkyMiles per qualifying stay of two nights or more. Delta had to be your preferred Double Dip Points & Miles partner.

Now it looks like HHilton and Delta have rescinded the offer for stays and registration on or after Monday, January 23, 2012.

Here was the original information on the promotion from Hilton:

"Get to your next award ticket faster with the Delta SkyMiles program and Hilton HHonors™. Sign up for this offer to earn 2,012 bonus miles when you book and complete a minimum two-night stay by March 31, 2012 at participating hotels and resorts within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio.* Be sure to select Delta as your preferred Double Dip® Points & Miles™ Partner in your HHonors profile to qualify for this offer. Earn 2,012 bonus miles with Delta and get to experiences worth sharing faster than ever. "

And here were the Terms and Conditions:

Terms & Conditions: To be eligible for this offer, you must (1) select Delta Air Lines as your preferred Double Dip® Points & Miles™ Partner in your Hilton HHonors™ account profile, (2) complete a minimum 2-night stay at a participating hotel or resort in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio from January 2, 2012 through March 31, 2012, and (3) register online at www.HHonors.com/delta2012 prior to check-out. You must be a Hilton HHonors member to earn Points & Miles for hotel stays. Bonus Delta Mileage (Both Fixed & Variable Miles Members): Earn 2,012 bonus miles per qualifying stay of 2-nights or more. Allow up to six weeks after promotion has ended for bonus miles to be credited to your account. All SkyMiles program rules apply. To review these rules, please visit www.delta.com/skymiles. Hilton HHonors membership, earning of Points & Miles and redemption of points are subject to HHonors Terms and Conditions.

The sign-up page is still live at Hilton HHonors here, as you can see from the screenshot.

The page is still live even though the promo has been rescinded.

But several TPG readers have emailed me that Hilton has rescinded the offer with the following letter:

“On January 9, 2012, you received an email offer for Double 2,012 Bonus Delta SkyMiles® for a minimum two-night stay by March 31, 2012 at participating properties within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio.

Regrettably, as of Monday, January 23, 2012, Hilton HHonors™ is no longer able to continue this offer as it was initially communicated. For stays completed prior to Monday, January 23, 2012, you will receive the bonus miles as outlined in the original promotion. For reservations made by January 23, 2012, we are pleased to offer you TRIPLE Hilton HHonors points for eligible stays through March 31, 2012. We look forward to accommodating your travel needs in the near future.

Please visit your MyWay Specials at www.hhonors.com for details on our existing promotions, including the current More Points promotion which offers 1,000 Bonus Points for every night plus an additional 5,000 Bonus Points for every weekend stay of two nights or more at participating hotels and resorts through March 31, 2012.

For any further questions, please contact Hilton Reservations & Customer Care toll-free at +1 (800) 548-8690.

Thank you,

Jeffrey Diskin

Senior Vice President, Customer Marketing

Hilton Worldwide”

I called Hilton HHonors to find out if this was true, and the agent informed me that the promotion was no longer available, and that as the letter states, any stays that were booked using it from now through March 31, 2012, will instead earn Triple Hilton HHonors points.

So not only is the promotion canceled going forward, but even if you already booked stays using it, the most you can hope for is triple points, which for most low-end/ cheap stays will be worth less than 2,012 SkyMiles.

Did any of you sign up for this offer and/or receive the renege letter? Tell us about it in the comments.

There’s a lot to love about the Amex Gold. It’s a fan favorite thanks to its fantastic bonus-earning rates at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets. If you’re hitting the skies soon, you’ll also earn bonus Membership Rewards points on travel. Paired with up to $120 in Uber Cash annually (for U.S. Uber rides or Uber Eats orders, card must be added to Uber app and you can redeem with any Amex card), up to $120 in annual dining statement credits to be used with eligible partners, an up to $84 Dunkin’ credit each year at U.S. Dunkin Donuts and an up to $100 Resy credit annually, there’s no reason that foodies shouldn’t add the Amex Gold to their wallet. These benefits alone are worth more than $400, which offsets the $325 annual fee on the Amex Gold card. Enrollment is required for select benefits. (Partner offer)
