Giveaway: Be My Guest at Conde Nast Travelers Visionaries Gala in NYC
Conde Nast Traveler is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a huge gala on the evening of Tuesday, September 18 at 6pm, at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City to honor the 12 "remarkable global citizens" doing extraordinary things across the world detailed in this issue's "Visionaries 2012" feature. I'll be attending the black tie-optional event and I have an extra ticket to give away and I want to take one of my readers with me to enjoy the evening's festivities. Here's what you have to do to enter:
Have a look at the roster of individuals included in Conde Nast Traveler's Visionaries feature (I'll list them below) and Tweet me @thepointsguy telling me which one you think has made the most impact and use the hashtag #tpgguest at the end of your Tweet. (If you need a Twitter account, you can sign-up for a free one here). All Tweets must be received by 11:59pm ET on Thursday, September 6 and I'll randomly select the winner and announce them on Friday, September 7.
Here is the list of visionaries and the organizations they lead or the work they do:
Nicholas D. Kristof: New York Times columnist and author who travels around the world reporting on gender inequality and other atrocities.
Somaly Mam and Susan Sarandon: Founder and fundraiser (respectively) of Cambodian shelters that help free and rehabilitate former Cambodian sex slaves.
Richard Branson: Founder of Virgin Group and philanthropist for various sustainability and environmental causes.
Jochen Zeitz: Chief sustainability officer of PPR, a French luxury company, who is raising awareness of environmental responsibility in the luxury goods and travel industries.
Olivia Wilde: Acress and co-founder of the first free secondary school in Haiti, the Academy for Peace and Justice, built to educate children from some of Port-au-Prince's poorest areas.
Michael Bloomberg: Mayor of New York City and chairman of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group for changing the way city's fight climate change.
Ai Weiwei: Controversial dissident artists challenging Chinese authorities.
Gary White: Co-founder of water.org, organizes micro-loans for water resources in the third world.
Okello Sam: Former child soldier who opened a secondary school for other uprooted survivors in northern Uganda.
Christy Turlington Burns: Former supermodel and founder of Every Mother Counts charity raising support to address maternal health issues in developing countries.
Hillary Clinton: US Secretary of State changing the way the world views America, as well as how America sees its own role in world affairs.
You can only enter the contest once, so make your Tweet count! Also, please note, this giveaway will just be a ticket to attend the event at Lincoln Center the evening of the 18th. I will not be providing any travel to NYC or accommodations, but I do have a car service arranged for the event, so you'll have the option to meet me at my midtown hotel at 5:30pm and go from there.
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these visionaries and can't wait to meet one of you in New York in a couple weeks!
