The Black Friday / Cyber Monday shopping season is here, so it's a great time to snag a discount on things that you'll use throughout the year.

With the big, flashy sales on things like AirPods and other items high on wishlists, it can be easy to overlook small, easy-to-forget items like FuelRods portable chargers. If you're planning a trip to Disney World or Disneyland (or a variety of other spots where it's easy to swap them out, including airports), you might want to snag a FuelRod.

FuelRods are not the best external power source from an amount of available power perspective, but they are compact and really easy to use in places where you can swap them out for free, like the Disney parks.

In the Disney parks, FuelRods costs about $30 each to purchase on the spot, but a tip is that you don't actually have to buy them there. You can buy them for less on Amazon and still swap them for free in the parks. And right now, you can get a pack of two on Amazon for $29.99 thanks to the Black Friday sale. Paying about $15 for each (instead of $30 each in the park) is a comparatively great deal.

FuelRods come in very handy when visiting theme parks — you'll need a power source to recharge your phone, check ride wait times, order food and book your Lightning Lanes on the go. There are tons of power banks on the market you can buy and bring, but while at Disney, a FuelRod is an easy solution that doesn't require much preparation with charging overnight or add very much extra weight to carry around.

You can exchange these pocket-size battery boosters at machines all around the parks. Once you buy a FuelRod, you can exchange it for free at Disney as often as you wish. Drop your drained one in the machine, and a fully charged one ready to go will pop out.

Each FuelRod usually provides a few hours of charging time. So, a pack of two is perfect for buying and tossing in your bag for the family as long as you're somewhere like Disney with readily available places to swap them out.

While it's free to exchange your FuelRods at the machines located throughout the Disney parks, it'll cost you $3 at Universal Studios. That makes them slightly less attractive to use there. However, it's still a better deal to buy the FuelRods for less in advance than pay the in-park $30 fee if you think you'll be using them during your vacation.
