American Express Travel has positioned itself as a powerful tool for booking both flights and hotels — including access to incredible benefits and rewards when booking select properties for many customers. And if you’re itching for a getaway but aren’t ready to navigate the current complexities of international travel, now could be a great time to spring for a luxurious resort this fall that's closer to home.

American Express has two hotel programs available to those with select cards: Fine Hotels + Resorts®, available to those who have The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum® Card from American Express and the Centurion Card; and The Hotel Collection, available to travelers with aforementioned cards as well as the American Express® Gold Card and American Express® Business Gold Card.

And as of July 1, 2021, holders of the Platinum Card can enjoy up to $200 back in annual statement credits for prepaid hotel reservations which requires a minimum two-night stay booked through American Express Travel for either one of these programs (and paid for with their Platinum Card).

There are over 1,800 hotels around the world between the two programs, but for some inspiration, explore Card Member Favorites, a collection of popular hotels highly recommended by Platinum cardholders that offer unforgettable experiences with exceptional value and service.

Below are eight exciting U.S. properties that have been handpicked based on cardholder feedback. All of them are part of either Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection — and any of them would make a great spot for your next trip.

$200 hotel credit for Amex Platinum cardholders

Earlier this summer, American Express announced changes to the line-up of benefits available with the Platinum Card — among them a new annual $200 statement credit when booking select properties through American Express Travel. Reservations made at Fine Hotels + Resorts properties as well as those belonging to The Hotel Collection are eligible for $200 back when you prepay for your stay using your Platinum Card.

This is a valuable perk that could help offset the cost of paying cash for a hotel. And that’s without considering the added on-property perks you’ll unlock through either program.

In addition, it’s very simple to use. After you’ve confirmed your prepaid hotel booking made through American Express Travel, you’ll automatically receive the credit on an upcoming statement. No need to register for the credit like you would with an Amex Offer.

Remember too that Platinum cardholders also earn 5x Membership Rewards points on prepaid hotels booked through American Express Travel — earning you even more rewards that you can use to redeem for your next trip.

Bottom line

Eligible American Express cardholders have access to hotel programs that offer elite-like benefits when they book through American Express Travel.

Gold and Business Gold cardholders have access to The Hotel Collection, a collection of boutique and design-inspired hotels around the world with elevated benefits when you stay two or more consecutive nights.

Meanwhile, travelers with the Amex Platinum, Amex Business Platinum and Centurion Card can book hotels that belong to The Hotel Collection as well as Fine Hotels + Resorts, a compilation of luxury properties that come with an exclusive suite of benefits — including daily breakfast for two and a guaranteed, 4 p.m. late checkout.

And in addition to being able to utilize the perks that come with these two hotel programs, holders of the Platinum Card will also enjoy $200 back in statement credits each year on prepaid hotel reservations at Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection properties when booking through American Express Travel using their Platinum card.

Although this list only includes eight domestic properties, you can explore the rest of the Card Member Favorites at this link — giving you plenty of luxurious resorts to satisfy your pent-up wanderlust.
