$200 hotel credit for Amex Platinum cardholders

Earlier this summer, American Express announced changes to the line-up of benefits available with the Platinum Card — among them a new annual $200 statement credit when booking select properties through American Express Travel. Reservations made at Fine Hotels + Resorts properties as well as those belonging to The Hotel Collection are eligible for $200 back when you prepay for your stay using your Platinum Card.

This is a valuable perk that could help offset the cost of paying cash for a hotel. And that’s without considering the added on-property perks you’ll unlock through either program.

In addition, it’s very simple to use. After you’ve confirmed your prepaid hotel booking made through American Express Travel, you’ll automatically receive the credit on an upcoming statement. No need to register for the credit like you would with an Amex Offer.

Remember too that Platinum cardholders also earn 5x Membership Rewards points on prepaid hotels booked through American Express Travel — earning you even more rewards that you can use to redeem for your next trip.

Bottom line

Eligible American Express cardholders have access to hotel programs that offer elite-like benefits when they book through American Express Travel.

Gold and Business Gold cardholders have access to The Hotel Collection, a collection of boutique and design-inspired hotels around the world with elevated benefits when you stay two or more consecutive nights.

Meanwhile, travelers with the Amex Platinum, Amex Business Platinum and Centurion Card can book hotels that belong to The Hotel Collection as well as Fine Hotels + Resorts, a compilation of luxury properties that come with an exclusive suite of benefits — including daily breakfast for two and a guaranteed, 4 p.m. late checkout.

And in addition to being able to utilize the perks that come with these two hotel programs, holders of the Platinum Card will also enjoy $200 back in statement credits each year on prepaid hotel reservations at Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection properties when booking through American Express Travel using their Platinum card.

Although this list only includes eight domestic properties, you can explore the rest of the Card Member Favorites at this link — giving you plenty of luxurious resorts to satisfy your pent-up wanderlust.
