Delta to Charge More for SkyClub Membership in 2017

Delta has some of the best airport lounges in the US, especially for a domestic carrier. From the unique SkyDeck at JFK's Terminal 4 to a brand new, expansive lounge in Seattle, Delta flyers have some pretty great options to get some work done, grab a bite or just relax before a flight.
Starting next year, however, it'll cost you more to access the airline's lounges. Delta's increasing the cost of Individual memberships from $450 to $495, and Executive memberships will run you $745 instead of $695. The difference in the two membership levels lies in each one's guest policy — you have to pay $29 per guest if you have an Individual membership, while two guests can enter for free with an Executive member. Interestingly enough, you'll actually pay less for a membership if you're covering the cost with SkyMiles. Individual memberships will cost you 47,000 miles instead of 70,000, while Executive membership will decrease from 110,000 miles to 70,000.
There are several ways to gain access to SkyClubs without purchasing a membership from the airline. Delta Diamond Medallion members receive a complimentary membership as a perk of their status. Certain credit cards will also grant you access to the lounges when you're traveling — The Delta Reserve® Credit Card from American Express, The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN all give the cardholder access to SkyClubs, but guests will have to pay a fee of $29 to join the cardholder.
