As a Chase banking customer, this announcement came as terrible news - they will discontinue awarding miles for debit card purchases as of July 12, 2011. But, at least there are a ton of other lucrative credit card offers out there (check my Top Deals page) and I've heard rumblings that there may be an amazing new offer coming soon (rest assured, I'll announce it here if it happens to be true).

Since having good credit is a huge centerpiece in building a robust points and miles strategy, check out this post where wrote about ideas for improving your credit if you don't have a good enough score to qualify for a credit card.

Anyway, this just goes to show that you need to get in on deals while the gettin' is good! I earned over 100,000 Continental miles from signing up for $180 in debit cards (two sets of personal and business cards - each with a 25,000 miles bonus). I wrote about these offers extensively and I know many of you got in the action as well.

While I mourned the loss of the debit option for a quick second, it's on to the next deal for me. That's the way you have to be as a serious points and mile hound!
