Chase Gets Rid of Foreign Transaction Fees on Marriott Premier Visa

Earlier this week I wrote about points and mileage earning cards that don't have foreign transaction fees. I was happy to read today that Chase announced that the Marriott Rewards Premier card ($85 annual fee waived for the first year, annual free stay, 5 points a dollar on Marriott spend, 1 point per dollar on all other) will no longer have 3% foreign transaction fees.
If you aren't a huge Marriott fan, but still want a foreign transaction free card with a waived annual fee and with good benefits, I'd look into the Chase Sapphire Preferred card currently has a 40,000 point signup bonus after $3,000 spend within 3 months and those points can be transferred at a 1:1 ratio to Hyatt, Marriott, Priority Club, Southwest, Korean, United and British Airways.. I always feel better earning points in a program that gives me flexibility in redemptions.
Overall though, this is great news and I hope it provokes American Express to drop their foreign transaction fees on the comparable Starwood Amex and Gold Amex cards!
