Capital One will open a new lounge at New York's JFK Airport
Terminal 4 at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will soon be home to the trifecta of credit card-branded airport lounges.
That's because Capital One announced on Tuesday that it will open a brand-new lounge in the retail hall at JFK's Terminal 4, joining the existing American Express Centurion Lounge and Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club that are already open in this terminal.
There's seemingly going to be lots to love about the new Capital One outpost. For one, it'll build on the very strong foundation that the issuer already has with its three existing lounges at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Denver International Airport (DEN) and Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, D.C.
However, the JFK lounge will be customized to become the issuer's New York flagship with a few special amenities. This includes a unique culinary experience that will pay homage to New York's classics.

For one, there will be an in-lounge bodega where travelers can order a selection of bagels and coffees. Furthermore, Capital One will keep a cheesemonger on hand to offer visitors a selection of delicacies from the Hudson Valley and the larger New York region. The cheeses will be served alongside cured meats and traditional accompaniments, and they will be paired with special wine and beer selections.
Speaking of imbibing, Capital One promises to work with a local brewery partner to craft a so-called "Perfect Airport Beer" that will become the exclusive beer offered in the lounge. There's no telling yet which brewery Capital One will solicit proposals from.
In terms of design, the issuer will work with Brooklyn-based Shakuff Custom Lighting to create a signature hanging glass sculpture that will serve as the central focal point of the space. This piece will be inspired by the branches and vegetation around the New York City area, the issuer said.
Capital One will also partner will local artists to curate a locally inspired artwork program for the space.
The issuer will bring its tried-and-true favorites to the JFK space, including a full-service coffee bar, a grab-and-go food counter, a tapas-style lounge menu and shower suites.
The lounge will measure 13,000 square feet, making it the second-largest credit card lounge in Terminal 4. Amex's Centurion Lounge measures over 15,000 square feet, while the Chase Sapphire Lounge measures just 7,600 square feet.

Capital One didn't share how many guests it can expect to seat at capacity, but overcrowding, especially at one of JFK's most popular terminals, will likely be a concern in this space.
The issuer did not share when the lounge would open, but it promised to share more updates, including additional amenities, in the coming months. We'll keep this post updated as more details become available.
