Bob Dylan fans — you will soon be able to literally knock, knock, knock on Heaven's Door.
(And no, we don't mean you're going to die.)
What we do mean is that Bob Dylan, the legendary musician that just-so-happens to dabble in the high-end liquor industry, is opening a whiskey distillery called "Heaven's Door Distillery and Center for the Arts" in Downtown Nashville.
The project, led by Dylan's whiskey brand, Heaven's Door Spirits, plans on transforming the 160-year-old Elm Street Church into a whiskey lover's heaven. Aside from being a whiskey distillery, the spot will feature a whiskey library, a restaurant and a 360-seat live performance venue. Dylan's paintings and metalwork sculptures will also be on display throughout the building.
The group chose Nashville for the distillery location to commemorate Dylan's contributions to the music-loving city. The announcement for "Heaven's Door" was made specifically on April 8 to coincide with the anniversary of Dylan's ninth album, "Nashville Skyline."
"Nashville is the natural home for the Heaven's Door distillery and the Elm Street Church is a fitting home for Dylan's visual artwork," said Marc Bushala, CEO of Heaven's Door Spirits, said in a press release. "We spent years looking for a property that truly captures the essence of the Heaven's Door brand, and when we finally found the deconsecrated church in SoBro, we immediately knew that it would be the perfect physical and spiritual center for the brand and Bob's art."
The distillery is slated to open in 2020.
