Here at TPG, we’re big fans of any opportunities to save money or earn bonus points, and one of our favorites ways to accomplish this is via Amex Offers. I regularly log in to my American Express account to check my list of targeted offers across my suite of Amex cards, and I thought I knew just about everything about them.

Turns out, per a report by Frequent Miler, there’s a “hidden” set of offers that’s not visible from the main account page — specifically for small businesses.

Here’s how you can find these and add them to your account.

For starters, don’t go to the regular American Express website to log in. Instead, visit this page and scroll down to the section labeled Shop Small with Amex Offers — then click on Explore Offers.

From there, log in using your normal credentials — and you should be taken directly to the Amex Offers & Benefits section of your online account.

However, if you’re familiar with Amex Offers, you should notice a new tab — Shop Small — that isn’t normally there.

If you log in from the normal Amex homepage, you’ll only see the standard tabs:

  • Available
  • Added to Card
  • Savings

Remember too that under normal circumstances, the Amex Offers section of your account is limited to 100 offers at a time — though you can use this tip to unlock more. However, you’ll notice in the above screenshot that starting at the Shop Small page boosts that number significantly on my Platinum Card® from American Express. Instead of 100, I have 136 — well above the usual limit.

Now, it’s worth pointing out that the majority of these offers won’t apply to many cardholders. After all, a discount for a purchase from a small business is (by definition) not applicable to dozens of markets across the country.

Nevertheless, travel is back in a big way this summer, so it’s always worth checking to see if there are offers for a merchant in an area you’re already planning to visit.

For example, if you’re visiting Nashville this summer, consider a visit to Husk to save $15 on a $75 purchase. Or if your travels take you to Virginia and the Charlottesville area, you can enjoy a visit to Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard — and save $20 on a $100 purchase. Just remember that Amex Offers are targeted, and you must add these (or any other) offers to the card you want to use prior to swiping it to earn the discount.

There’s no harm in at least checking these offers on your account — you never know when you could discover a new favorite in the process.
