The Business Platinum Card® from American Express aims to empower small-business owners to take their businesses to the next level thanks to lucrative rewards, an array of perks and extensive protections.
But don’t just take our word for it.
Recently, we had the opportunity to speak to some existing cardmembers and ask them what they love most about the card — and how they take advantage of all those Membership Rewards® points they earn. If you’re in the market for one of the most rewarding business credit cards out there, the timing could be perfect.
That's because TPG has an exclusive welcome offer for the Business Platinum card when you apply and are approved through this link before Dec. 21: 150,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $15,000 in eligible purchases within the first three months of card membership. That’s 30,000 points more than the current offer — and one you won't find anywhere else (terms apply).
Let’s look at what you can expect if you are approved for an Amex Business Platinum Card and how some existing small-business owners are making the most of the card.
Elevated welcome offer
It’s worth repeating that TPG’s exclusive offer for the Amex Business Platinum Card could earn you an extra 30,000 Membership Rewards points after you apply and have been approved through this link. New cardmembers can earn 150,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $15,000 in eligible purchases on the card in the first three months (terms apply).

Membership Rewards points can be redeemed for travel directly through American Express Travel, and thanks to Pay with Points, Business Platinum cardmembers can get up to 35% points back after using points for all (or part) of an eligible flight booked through Amex travel, up to 1 million points back per calendar year. Alternatively, you could get even more value by transferring your points to travel partners.
But the rewards aren’t the only reason why small-business owners should consider the card. There are numerous ways to save on business expenses, plus a plethora of travel perks that come with cardmembership.
The Amex Business Platinum Card has an array of benefits designed with small businesses in mind. In addition to savings at select merchants through Amex Offers, eligible cardmembers can unlock several annual statement credits when using the card with popular retailers we think small-business owners will love. Enrollment is required for all benefits.
- Up to $400 in statement credits per year on Dell purchases made in the U.S. (up to $200 semiannually).
- Up to $360 in statement credits per year for purchases with Indeed (up to $90 per quarter).
- Up to $150 in statement credits per year for select business subscription purchases with Adobe.
- Up to $120 in statement credits per year for purchases with U.S. wireless phone service providers (up to $10 per month).
- Up to $200 in statement credits per year for incidental fees on one qualifying airline.
- Up to $189 in statement credits per year when you use your card to pay for your annual Clear membership.
Those statement credits are worth more than $1,400 in annual value for your small business — but it gets even better.
Cardmembers can also earn 1.5 points (an extra half point) for every dollar spent on:
- Eligible purchases at the following U.S. businesses:
- Construction materials and hardware suppliers.
- Electronic goods retailers, plus software and cloud system providers.
- Shipping providers.
- Each eligible purchase of $5,000 or more everywhere else.
This applies on up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year.
When you hit the road, the Amex Business Platinum Card has you covered there as well. Cardmembers can earn 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on eligible prepaid hotel bookings through American Express Travel, including Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection. You can also get 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on eligible flights booked on AmexTravel.com.
As a Platinum cardmember, you can receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status and Hilton Honors Gold status without meeting stay requirements, and you’ll enjoy access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection, which includes Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs (when traveling on Delta) and Priority Pass lounges, among other options. What is your favorite way to use the card’s many travel-related perks?
Christina Rice, founder of OMNoire:
"I’m actually sitting in a beautiful premium lounge in São Paulo, Brazil as I’m writing this, having gained access through my Amex Business Platinum. So that’s one major perk! With all the international travel I do, being able to access a number of lounges with my card makes my travel so much more pleasant. Additionally, I’ve flown over 200,000 miles this year, and I’ve been able to redeem my points for additional flights and travel."
What made you decide to open The Business Platinum Card from American Express?
Cynthia Johnson, co-founder of Bell + Ivy:
"I trust Amex Business Platinum has my back first. The customer service and ability to truly understand my needs (sometimes before I do) by offering the kind of perks that fit my lifestyle and business. To me, the fee for Amex Business Platinum is nothing compared to the benefits received and the peace of mind I have when using my Amex Business Platinum."
Sydney Sadick, founder of Spotlight Magazine:
"American Express has been used by multiple generations of my family for the last 60 years. Each and every family member, from my grandfather to my mom who started their own businesses, has had the best experience with their cards, so it felt only natural to follow in their footsteps and continue the tradition of being an American Express cardholder. And, since I applied, even more benefits were added that are relevant to me."
