The cards we feature here are from partners who compensate us when you are approved through our site, and this may impact how or where these products appear. We are big fans of easy-to-use tools that keep things simple and organized. Much to our excitement, American Express just added a new points transfer tool that puts all transfer partners in a simple table, and our first impression is positive.

Let's take a look at this new tool from American Express and understand how it can simplify your next points transfer with Membership Rewards.

New American Express Membership Rewards transfer partners table

This new table lists all of the American Express transfer partners together. Previously, you would see icons for accounts you've linked or featured partners at the top, and need to scroll down to find other partners. Now, all of the partners are listed in one table. This table also lists the transfer ratio, so there's no guesswork involved.

You can click on a transfer partner's name to see details, link your account or initiate a transfer with your Membership Rewards points.

Key features

Now that all of your points transfers start from this table, let's look at the features it offers to make your life simpler.

First, you don't need to hunt for transfer partners that might be at the top or bottom of the screen. Instead, everything is in one place.

Additionally, you can use features across the top of the table to sort by accounts you've already linked ("Enrolled") or sort by airline or hotel programs only. This makes it easier to find the program you want to transfer your points to.

If you're using a transfer partner for the first time, everything is in one place. Here's an example for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, since I've never transferred points to this program. You can add your loyalty account number and read some information about that program in one place, which you'll see after you click on the name of the program in the table.

On this page, you'll see details like transfer increments, transfer ratios and some information about the program.

Another new feature we like is the slider. This appears on programs you've already linked. If I want to transfer my points to Aeroplan, I can either type in how many points I want to transfer or use the new slider feature. This is in addition to the other features we mentioned above.

Each program's maximum transfer time is also listed. However, your transfers should typically go fast, based on our results from testing.

Bottom line

This is a great new tool to keep everything organized, streamlined and easy to use. You can access the transfer partners table in the same place where you previously found your points transfers. Once logged in, click on your points balance or click on "Benefits" at the top of your account for any Membership Rewards-earning card.
