Everything is bigger in Texas, including American Airlines' network.

The Fort Worth-based carrier announced Thursday a noteworthy network expansion at its hometown airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), that includes increased service on 30 domestic and international routes.

The expanded service touches cities as small as Abilene, Texas, and major metropolitan centers such as San Francisco and Seattle.

American highlights that this additional service will combine to offer travelers more than 10,000 connecting flight options around the world via DFW.

In total, the carrier expects to fly more than 850 daily departures next summer — a monumental milestone for the airline as it seeks to increase its dominance at DFW (and offer more than 1,000 daily departures from this airport).

For years, American has invested in its largest and possibly most important hub with new flights and added service. The carrier is by far the market leader in DFW, and it seeks to continue boosting its service there to retain its dominance.

Not only does American appeal to the local market, but it also uses DFW as a key connecting airport for travelers looking to travel anywhere around the world.

Just this year, the airline signed a new 10-year lease agreement with the airport authorities to continue growing at its hub.

This agreement covers nearly $5 billion of preapproved capital investments, including the construction of gate expansions at Terminal A and Terminal C, the construction of a new sixth Terminal F and a major renovation of Terminal C, which currently operates the most daily departures of any terminal at DFW. (Almost all of these new and expanded facilities are earmarked for American's use.)

As part of the renewed lease, American CEO Robert Isom shared that he envisions the airline operating more than 1,000 daily departures from DFW in the coming years.

While that figure might still be a few years off, summer 2024 is shaping up to be a record-setting season for American.

"We're thrilled to offer more seats than ever before to our local and connecting customers at DFW next summer. Following our team's strong operational performance this year, and the airline's continued investments in its largest hub, we are prepared and excited to operate this robust schedule," said Jim Moses, American's senior vice president of DFW hub operations, in a statement.
