Virgin America is offering a 20% discount on fares booked using a Visa this spring while British Airways is running a 10% discount on fares purchased with a BA Visa all year long.

20% Off Virgin America For Liking Visa NFL On Facebook

Although you're supposed to 'like' Visa NFL on Facebook, it looks like you can just enter your name and email on Virgin's site here to score a 20% discount on flights between now and February 29, and between April 15-June 15.

The airline then emails you with a promo code good for 20% off on a flight for up to two seats only on Virgin America non-stop or connecting flights when you pay the fare using your Visa.

The airline sends you an email with your one-use-only promo code.

To test it out, I went to Virgin's site and searched for an itinerary for two passengers roundtrip from LAX-Seattle from February 9-February 13. Without the promo code, the lowest fare per person each way I could find was $89, bringing to total trip cost to $399.20 with taxes and fees.

The total itinerary without the promo code cost $399.20.

When I plugged in the promo code, the base fare dropped down to $71 per person each way for the same exact flights, bringing the trip total to $328 including taxes and fees.

Using the promo code brought the total itinerary cost down to $320.

So while the base fares were discounted 20%, the total discount after taxes and fees is just about 18%, but hey that's still a fair chunk of money, especially if you're planning a more expensive trip.

British Airways 10% Off Promo

As I wrote about in November, British Airways is offering 10% off any BA flight when you use your Chase British Airways Visa Signature Card. The best part? That 10% comes off the total ticket price—including taxes and fees, which get extremely expensive when flying in or out of London! Here is the information from the BA site.

10% off when you book through ba.com/Chase10:

  • Discount is off the total cost of the fare (including taxes, fuel and surcharges).
  • Choose from any of British Airways 300+ destinations.
  • Travel in any cabin—World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, Club World or First.
  • Book up to eight friends and family members travelling on the same flight.

Promotion code: CARDOFFERU

Plus, remember that you earn an extra 2.5 miles per dollar spent on BA miles when you use your BA Visa card. For more about buying BA miles, transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points and American Express Membership Rewards points to BA miles, and using them for valuable upgrades, check out my previous post.

Here are the rest of the T&C on this particular offer:
