There is debate over the socially acceptable date to stop saying “Happy New Year,” but I think we know where United Airlines falls on that debate.
To kick off 2025, United is back with its Surprise Adventure Week: five days of deals revealed each morning.
On Friday, United is offering one-way flights from the U.S. to London starting at 25,000 United MileagePlus miles.
This deal is accessible for both United cardholders and those without cards, though the stated price is only guaranteed for cardholders.
Previously, the saver award price to Europe on United was 60,000 miles round-trip, so this is a good deal.
This is the last deal of the week, and it's available for 24 hours.
Deal basics
Airline: United
Routes: From the continental U.S. to London
How to book: Directly with United
Travel dates: Jan. 12 to April 3
Book by: Friday
This deal is for round-trip flights, both nonstop and connecting, from the continental U.S. (Alaska and Hawaii excluded) to London's Heathrow Airport (LHR). You can only book on Friday.
Discounted economy flights start at 25,000 miles one-way, plus taxes and fees, for United cardholders.
Sample flights
To search for this deal, enter your departing airport in the “From” box and “LHR” in the “To” field. Be sure to filter results to show the routes available to book with miles, not cash. You can also use the low-fare calendar to search for specific dates.
As mentioned, the lowest-priced flights available are for United cardholders, but anyone can search for this sale.
During a test search conducted for this story, one-way flights from New York City to London were available for slightly more than the advertised sale price. Flights departing from LaGuardia Airport (LGA) were available from 25,300 miles in both January and February.
Though this deal advertises one-way flights, you might be able to stack two discounted one-way flights to make a round trip.
If you are not finding saver fares, change your dates (and airports) and look for flights marked with a saver award.
Maximize your purchase
If you book this deal, use a credit card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases, including:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees): 2 points per dollar spent on travel
- Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees): 8 points per dollar on all Chase Travel℠ purchases and 4 points per dollar on flights booked directly through the airline
- United℠ Explorer Card (see rates and fees): 2 miles per dollar spent on United purchases
- United Club℠ Card (see rates and fees): 4 miles per dollar spent on United purchases
- United Quest℠ Card (see rates and fees): At least 4 miles per dollar spent on United purchases
Bottom line
Today's deal expires at midnight in your time zone, so be sure to book before then.
For Friday only, one-way flights to London start at 25,000 United MileagePlus miles.
