Book by Oct. 26 to save 30% at select Kimpton, InterContinental and Vignette properties

Kimpton is well-known for its periodic, short-lived sales. One of these sales is back from Oct. 24 to Oct. 26 via a new three-day member event, but it's a bit different as it includes more than just Kimpton properties.

During this event, you can book participating Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts and Vignette Collection hotels in North America at a 30% discount for stays between Oct. 27, 2023, and Feb. 29, 2024.

The 30% discount is only for IHG One Rewards members, requires a three-day advance purchase and is only off the best flexible rate. You may find other rates provide better value — especially since the discounted member event rate only offers free cancellation until 14 days before your stay.

Still, it's worth checking out the list of participating properties for this three-day member event. If you find a hotel you want to stay at between Oct. 27, 2023, and Feb. 29, 2024, compare rates for your stay.

For example, consider the Kimpton Gray in Chicago, a participating hotel for this sale. If you click through from the list of participating properties, the private member rate will be preselected when you search. Here's a look at cash rates for a sample one-night stay during the eligible dates:

As you can see, the private member rate that only offers free cancellation until 14 days before your stay is much better than the member discount rate that offers free cancellation until three days before your stay. However, you can book the same night for just 23,000 points, which is a better deal since TPG values IHG points at 0.5 cents each.

You can stack stays you book during this three-day member event with other IHG One Rewards promotions. For example, I'm enrolled in a promotion that gives me 2,000 bonus points every two nights through the end of the year. So, I could earn 2,000 bonus IHG points for every two nights I stay through the end of the year, even if I'm staying on a discounted rate I booked during the three-day member event.

Finally, whether you book your IHG stay during this event or not, remember to use the best card when paying for your IHG stay. You might opt to use a cobranded IHG credit card, or you might prefer to use a card that earns bonus rewards on travel purchases.

Bottom line

If you have any upcoming stays in North America between Oct. 27, 2023, and Feb. 29, 2024, it's worth looking at this sale — especially if you plan to stay at a Kimpton, InterContinental or Vignette Collection property.

However, beware of the relatively strict cancellation policy and cancel your stay more than 14 days before check-in if you change your travel plans after you book.
