There are a few interesting Hertz promos going this fall that mean extra points and significant discounts for car renters.

Hertz Triple Points Promo
I covered this in a past Saturday recap, but I think it deserves a little more attention. Hertz launched a promo for triple points on rentals picked up between September 4-December 15, 2012. Register with your Hertz Gold Plus rewards number (if you're not yet a member, you can sign up here). Per the T&C, Valid on paid rentals picked up beginning September 4, 2012, through December 15, 2012, at participating Hertz locations including the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S.V.I., United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand only.

The Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program awards members 1 point per qualifying U.S. dollar spent or its equivalent in the currency paid for car rented. Bonus points will not be awarded on rentals accruing other Frequent Travel Program Points – so you have to be earning Hertz Gold points for this. Bonus points will be added to member's account up to 10 business days from the rental return and can be redeemed immediately. Only paid rentals will qualify for this promotion. Advance reservations required.

Free rental days start at only 500 points, which is earned from only $167 in Hertz spend. You can transfer increments of 600 Hertz Gold points to miles on airline partners including Air Canada, Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit and US Airways (usually 600 Hertz points = 500 airline miles), as well as into Priority Club and Marriott Rewards points (600 Hertz points = 1,000 hotel points) and Amtrak Guest Rewards (600 Hertz points = 500 Amtrak points).

$14.99 Per Weekend Day
Many rental agencies offer weekend discounts, but $14.99 is still a pretty great deal on an economy or compact car. This offer is good for rentals picked up anytime from Thursday noon to 11:59pm on Sunday and dropped off by 11:59pm on Monday, and is valid through November 15 at select airport and neighborhood Hertz locations in the US excluding New York and Hawaii, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Though the $14.99 rate applies just to economy/compact models, there are promotional rates for other car classes as well. You must book at hertz.com with the code FRDM.

Young Renters Offer
It can be downright impossible to get a good deal on a rental car if you're below 25 years of age, but Hertz is now renting to 20-24 year-olds who can save between $15-25 a day thanks to a waived young renter fee. To score the discount, just use the promo code 144314 when you rent. You must pick up your vehicle by September 30, 2012. The usual young renter fee might appear on your reservation confirmation, but will be deducted at the time of rental. This offer is redeemable at locations in the US and Canada, and before you youngsters get any ideas, it excludes Prestige and Adrenaline Collection vehicles, so you'll just have to wait to get behind the wheel of a Corvette for now.

Airport locations usually levy surcharges special fees on rentals, so it's always nice to get a discount specifically geared (no pun intended) toward vehicles rented at airport agencies.
